About the Tuan Wreh Fashion Institute
The Tuan Wreh Fashion Institute was founded by renowned Liberian Designer and humanitarian Kimma Wreh as a mechanism to advance the Liberian fashion industry and open doors for young people to learn practical tailoring skills. This will allow the youth to earn an additional source of income which can lead them out of poverty and into a better life for themselves and their families.
The objective of the Tuan Wreh Fashion Institute (NGO) is to provide vocational skills and fashion training to talented but disadvantaged Liberian youth and adults. Starting with the Fall Semester 2017, the Tuan Wreh Fashion Institute provides hands on fashion training to students of the MCF Academy in Liberia.
Students enrolled in vocational training classes at the MCF Academy will learn basic to intermediate sewing skills (clothing) and accessory making (handbag, necklaces, earring, bracelets). Students who successfully complete the program will receive a Certificate of Completion. The program has enrollment open to students in Grades 6 to 10.
The non profit organization is named in honor of the late Liberian Senator Tuan Wreh of Grand Kru County and former Dean of the Law School at the University of Liberia, Fulbright scholar, renowned journalist, author of the Love of Liberty, labor law and maritime law books.
